Burrito Bison Rocket Slam and Cake Walls: How to Keep Your Speed

Published · 3 min read

Every Burrito Bison player meets the same wall. Not a metaphor: a giant slab of cake across the road, which the bison either smashes through or flops against. Getting past it — and the ones after it — comes down to arriving fast. Here is how speed works in Launcha Libre and how to keep it.

Where your speed comes from

There are three sources. The launch sets your starting speed: the further you drag the bison back on the ropes, the harder he leaves the ring. Gummies keep it: each one you land on bounces you forward instead of letting you slide. And the Rocket Slam turns height into a hit — a straight dive that flattens whatever is underneath and throws you back up. Everything else, from bare road to a badly timed fall, costs speed.

You can see the numbers while you fly. The dial in the bottom-left corner is your current speed, and the line along the bottom of the screen shows your position against the next wall. Glance at both. If the speed is dropping and the wall marker is close, you have one decision left to make.

Timing the Rocket Slam

The Rocket Slam meter on the left fills while you are in the air. When it is full, a click sends the bison straight down. Two rules make it worth more:

  • Slam into a crowd, not onto empty road. Gummies stand in little groups along the street. A slam that lands in the middle of one flattens several at once and bounces you away with speed to spare. A slam onto nothing just brings you down sooner.
  • Keep it for the approach to a wall. Firing the slam the moment the meter fills feels good and wastes it. Held until the wall marker is close, it is the push that gets you through.

Some missions are built around the slam too — an early one asks you to smash five Jelly Rogers with it — so check the missions card before launching and you will know what to aim at.

Hitting the wall

A giant cake wall stops a slow bison dead and gives way to a fast one. There is no trick beyond arriving with speed: a full launch, a chain of gummy bounces, and the slam saved for the last stretch. If a wall stops you three runs in a row, stop trying to play it better and go shopping — the upgrades are designed to be the answer.

Coins, multipliers and the shop

Coins come from the gummies you flatten, and the money-bag robber — a gummy in a striped shirt carrying a sack marked with a dollar sign — is the one to land on when it shows up below you. At the end of a run the summary shows the coins earned and a row of multiplier cards that can raise the total. Then comes the shop.

Spend everything, every run. Coins sitting in the bank do not launch the bison any further, and even a cheap upgrade usually adds a few metres to the next run. Missions help too: each one pays candy towards the next candy level, and newly unlocked shop items — the Puncheus Pilot the missions mention, for instance — open up once you get there.

A run that breaks the first wall

  1. Drag the bison all the way back on the ropes before you let go.
  2. Watch where he will come down and let him fall into the gummies, not beside them.
  3. Leave the Rocket Slam alone until the wall marker at the bottom is close.
  4. Slam into the last crowd before the wall.
  5. Whatever happens, spend the coins and go again.
