Burrito Bison: a luchador, a wrestling ring and a town full of gummy bears

Burrito Bison: Launcha Libre starts with a comic. The bison buys a “Super Awesome Recetas” cookbook at the town shop, La Tienda; then a bag of gummy bears bursts, the gummies pour out and wreck the place, and the book ends up in the hands of a gummy in a chef’s hat. The bison, buried in the rubble, is left with a question mark over his head. Then he climbs into a wrestling ring, and the rest of the game is him answering it the only way he knows: by launching himself at the gummies as hard as possible.

It is made by Juicy Beast Studio, the Quebec studio behind the whole Burrito Bison series, and the version here is the Unity web build of Launcha Libre — the same one the old site framed from a GitHub page, now served from burritobison.org itself. The first load is about 70 MB; after that your browser caches it.

The loop is short and very easy to repeat. Pull the bison back on the ring ropes and let go. He flies right over the rooftops, and every gummy he lands on bounces him onward. A Rocket Slam meter fills on the left of the screen; click and he dives straight down, flattening whatever is underneath. Giant cake walls block the road and only break if you hit them fast enough. When he finally skids to a stop, the game counts your distance and coins, shows your missions and opens the shop — and the next launch goes a little further.

How to get further in Burrito Bison

  1. Stretch the ropes all the way: The launch is the only moment you control your speed directly. Drag the bison as far back as the ropes allow before letting go; a lazy launch costs you the whole run.
  2. Save the Rocket Slam for a crowd: The slam is strongest when there is something to land on. Wait until a group of gummies is under you rather than firing it the moment the meter fills.
  3. Read the missions before you launch: Three missions sit on the card after every run — early ones ask you to break the first giant cake wall, smash five Jelly Rogers with a Rocket Slam, or ride a Puncheus Pilot once it is unlocked in the shop. Knowing them in advance turns a random run into a plan.
  4. Spend every run: Coins are worth nothing in the bank. Open the shop after each run and buy the next upgrade, even a small one — the game is built so that each purchase adds a few metres.
  5. Hit the money-bag gummy: The gummy robber in the striped shirt carries a sack with a “$” on it. When you see one below you, that is the gummy to land on.
  6. Watch the bar at the bottom: The line along the bottom of the screen is your progress towards the next wall. If you are close and slowing down, that is the moment to spend the slam.

Key features

  • Ring-rope launch: Every run starts in the ring: pull the bison back on the ropes and let him fly.
  • Gummy bounces: Blue gummies fill the streets; land on them to stay in the air, flatten them for coins.
  • Rocket Slam: A meter on the left fills as you fly; click and the bison dives straight down into the crowd.
  • Cake walls: Giant cake walls block the road — hit one fast enough and you break through into the next stretch.
  • Missions and candy: Three missions at a time, more waiting in the queue, each paying candy towards the next candy level.
  • Shop upgrades: Coins from every run go into upgrades, so the same launch reaches further next time.

Frequently asked questions

Is Burrito Bison unblocked at school?

Yes. Burrito Bison runs in a normal browser tab from burritobison.org, with nothing to install, so it plays on most school Chromebooks. If a network filter blocks the site, only that network's administrator can change it.

Is Burrito Bison free to play here?

Yes. The game is served from burritobison.org and runs in the page — no download, no account. Press Play; the first load is around 70 MB, then it starts on the title screen.

Which Burrito Bison is this?

Burrito Bison: Launcha Libre, the third game in Juicy Beast’s series, in its Unity web version. The older Burrito Bison Revenge is on its own page in the Launch & Fly shelf.

How do you launch the bison?

In the ring, grab the bison with the mouse (or your finger), drag him back against the ropes and let go. The further back you pull, the faster he flies.

What is the Rocket Slam?

The meter on the left side of the screen. When it is full, click and the bison dives straight down, flattening the gummies underneath. The game shows a prompt the first time it is ready.

Does Burrito Bison save my progress?

The game keeps its save in your browser’s storage for this site, so coming back on the same browser picks up your upgrades. Clearing site data, or a private window, starts over.

Does it work on a phone?

It is a Unity game made for a mouse and a laptop-sized screen. Chromebooks and laptops run it well; on a phone the 70 MB download and the memory it needs can be too much.
